Summer is the best time to try out Scouts! Join us for fishing, camping, hiking, and other outdoor adventures - all great ways to make friends, learn new skills, and have fun in the sun. We meet regularly and welcome newcomers of all experience levels.
What is Cub Scouts?
Cub Scouts is for all kindergarten-5th grade kids. We do lots of fun activities throughout the year like fishing, hiking, volunteering, visiting the pumpkin patch, and archery. Some Cub Scouts attend summer camp (with a parent) and one of the year's highlights is always Pinewood Derby!
The Pack consists of all the Scouts together. The Pack is broken up into Dens, usually by grade level. For example, all of the first graders would be in the Tiger Den.
Who is Pack 592?
Pack 592 has been in the Raleigh Hills area since 1948. Our charter organization (sponsor) is Valley Community Presbyterian Church and we are able to use the church's building and outdoor areas for meetings and activities. Most of our Scouts live in the surrounding area or attend a nearby school.
How often do you meet?
We have Pack meetings once a month, usually the last Thursday evening of the month. Den meetings are also generally held once a month and the schedule is figured out within the Den. We also typically have a monthly fun Pack activity on a weekend.
Cub Scouts is designed to be a fun Scout/parent activity and Pack 592 is not a drop-off pack. We ask that each Scout have a parent or responsible adult stay with them during all activities and meetings.
How do I join?
To join, register your new Cub Scout via the link/QR Code below. The registration cost for a new Cub Scout is $125, with the option to add on Scout Life magazine for an additional $15. These fees are paid directly to Scouting America through the registration process and cover membership with Scouting America for the first year, with renewal on an annual basis.
Our Pack also has annual dues, which are paid to the Pack each October to help fund activities, supplies, food, etc. Many of our Scouts participate in the annual Wreath Sales Fundraiser, held every October, and sell enough wreaths to cover both sets of dues! Scholarships may also be available for those who need them – please feel free to reach out to us for more information.

What about the Cub Scout Uniform?
All new Scouts will need to provide their own uniform and rank gear (one time purchase – shirt with badges, hat, neckerchief/slide, belt and rank book). For young scouts, purchase an oversized shirt and they can grow into it over the course of their scouting journey. Gear can be purchased at the Nor'West Scout Shop in downtown Portland or ordered online through scoutshop.org. The cost is approximately $100. Every May, the Pack will provide each Scout with the next rank's gear and book, free of charge.
